Life is a place where a wise choice is required every now and again. I’ve recently been reading The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. In the preface to the book proper, there are 3 short stories that are relevant to so many things. Among them was a story of a wealthy dying man with twin sons. He gave them a choice of 2 things and then sent them away to think about it.
In these days of so much expectation and pressure to do so much, it’s more evident that we should all take note of the old saying “if at first you don’t succeed”. Because of the noticeable “rush” of life in general, the opportunities are all there but also the need to be patient and persistent is something we all need to be aware of.
Are you up for the challenge of expanding your business? Whatever type of business you have, online or traditional retail there is a challenge to be met that you need to be able to deal with. If you work from home the possibilities of expanding your business are endless and yet the overheads are still kept small. In a traditional business, the prospects are far more challenging and I hope to distinguish between the both here.
If you were to ask any person who has a family, I’ll bet when asked what they want most, they would tell you that it’s more time freedom to spend with their spouse and children. Isn’t this what we all desire? Trouble is, although there are so many who want more time to spend in this way, there are relatively few who will have that luxury and have the means to live a great life at the same time. Time freedom is one of the main marketing positives for those who want to have a home business, either in network marketing or an internet business based around an affiliate marketing system.
Is there something that is holding you back and stopping you from making the progress you want to with your business? If so, it’s time to get the monkey off your back and find a way to deal with your issues and move on. I was in a situation where there were things preventing me from moving forward the way I wanted. After dealing with each thing in its own right, I have just one issue remaining that will truly see the monkey off my back.
It’s surprising how many of us have had thoughts that govern our lives. Negative thoughts or positive ones that can be either devastating or enhancing to us in so many ways. This is down to beliefs that are embedded in our minds and reinforce the statement “your beliefs become your thoughts”. You could also say that thought can effect belief too if the thought process can change your belief.
Earlier today I was watching the original Planet Of The Apes movie, with Charlton Heston and one thing that hit me more today, even though I’ve seen the film several times was the total fear of change. The message was relevant that the culture was wrapped up in their own security and fear of the past, they lived like we tend to do and pushed things aside to keep the culture “safe”.
I know, a gambler IS a risk taker. There is a different way to look at things though. Are you one of the many thousands of people who have the opinion that the only way to get rich is to win the lottery? The odds on winning the lottery are so high that it truly is a gamble rather than a risk. You will spend so much money every week and the odds against are so great that you will never be likely to win. In fact the likelihood is you will lose a lot.
A lot of us will know the parable of the Good Samaritan and the meaning behind the story. I wonder if there is a Good Samaritan definition for those of us in business too. For those who are not as familiar with the ethic behind the story, basically the Jews and Samaritans didn’t get on (sound familiar?) and a Priest and Levite left a poor injured man alone to suffer, but a Samaritan helped him in spite of his race or creed.
Everybody has different thoughts on attitude, and the way you actually think can change your attitude. I have been aware of a change in some people’s attitude when they are told a story that triggers and imaginary and emotional response from them based on what they are told. There are many people who have negative thoughts about very positive things and also people who have an imagination based thought process that put them off things. These attitudes generally have a detrimental effect on the outcome that should be accepted based on truth rather than assumption. Is everything as bad as we make it out to be?
